Sterling Jenson has managed investment assets and portfolio management firms since February, 1980. His expertise and experience has ranged from international and US equities to government and corporate bonds. As he built his success through several strategic business moves in the 1980’s he also completed his CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation and served as the President of the CFA Society of Salt Lake.
Following his service as Trust Investment Manager of First Interstate Bank in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1990, he began his tenure with First Security Investment Management (a subsidiary of First Security Bank in Salt Lake City) where he served as President and CEO, overseeing the investment of over $7 billion in client assets. Following the merger with Wells Fargo in 2000, Sterling continued as a Regional Managing Director for Wells Capital Management, with responsibility for institutional portfolio management throughout the Intermountain West from Arizona to Montana and southeast through Colorado and Texas. He retired from Wells Fargo in 2015 to help form Cynosure Advisors to service high net worth clients.
Sterling’s experience has been utilized in Utah to help create the Utah Foster Care Foundation, serve as a board member of the Utah Capital Investment Board and the Utah School Lands Trust Fund as well as several non-profit service organizations and theater companies. He has also been a member of the National Advisory Council to the Marriott School of Management (BYU) where he served as chairman from 2008-2011.
